This was my first set of high-end pickups. Over the years I’ve played them in several of my guitars and they always sound great. They’re a good “safe bet” set of pickups because they’re just nice and smooth.
Ultimately I switched all my guitars to Zexcoil pickups because I couldn’t deal with the hum that normal single coil pickups suffer from, and to my ears they sound as good as anything I’ve played. But if hum doesn’t bother you, or you can’t afford the higher price, the Vintage Hots are a great upgrade for most Strats.
