We're down in the weeds today looking at a very subtle technique that Johnny Winter used all the time. Because he often repeated licks multiple times, he had to adjust the ending to make it fit with the beat divisions of the measure. In this lesson I'll break down how he would jump back one, two or even three notes, and retrace his steps. By doubling back and repeating some notes, he'd shift the ending of the lick to align with the beat.
