You all know how frustrating it is to learn a guitar lick, only to forget it within a few days. That's a completely normal part of learning. You're not doing it wrong, you're just stopping too soon. Memorizing a guitar lick, or even an entire solo is not a once-and-done thing. It requires frequent repetition, long after you've first mastered it.
