Playing Texas Flood is like therapy for me. When I first saw Stevie’s El Mocambo performance of this song, I was transfixed, frozen in my seat. It was like hearing my thoughts and emotions from the TV, and I wasn’t even playing.

I learned as much as possible from that performance, absorbing every nuance, every bend and accent. But mostly, I learned how to express the raw energy and passion that first got me hooked. The Texan Floods lessons take what I’ve learned after playing this song hundreds of times and present it in a form that you can start learning no matter where you’re starting from.

So… you want to learn Texas Flood, but you’re not quite able to just sit down and understand it. Where should you start?

When I travel to a new place for the first time, I prepare by studying the map. I learn to visualize the city to understand it from above before I have to navigate it from the streets.
