The intro to Clapton's first solo in Crossroads is an excellent example of mixing major and minor licks. He starts with a major pentatonic lick sliding into Box 1, then some chord embellishments over an E-Form chord, and finally, a simple walkup along the minor pentatonics notes of Box 1.
