The JHS Meat & 3 mod improves on the stock Electro-Harmonix Soul Food pedal, adding some low end, additional clipping mods, and a much nicer overall sound. The differences are not quite as noticeable at lower gain levels, but as you increase the gain it’s easy to hear the improvements.
The stock pedal sells for under $80, the modded version sells for $115, available directly from JHS Pedals (link below). You can also have your stock unit modded for $45.
