I can remember exactly where I was, what I was doing, and who I was with the first time I heard Stevie Ray Vaughan play. That moment is burned into my memory, and the soundtrack to that memory is "The Sky Is Crying".
This video is the second in my series called The SRV "Sky Is Crying Blueprint". Video 1 was all about the history of the song.
In this video, I'm going to explain why Stevie's "less is more" approach to this song makes it so memorable. I'll compare and contrast it to his other slow blues songs and point out how he used less of everything in this recording, but creates something uniquely memorable in the process.
I'll also share some thoughts from other teachers, guitar YouTubers, and players who were influenced by SRV. I'll have links to all their respective channels below the video.
