I can barely play if my strings feel sticky. There are several products you can choose from to fix this problem, but the one that I’ve used for as long as I’ve played guitar is Fast Fret.

I use it to lubricate the strings before I play, and to clean them off after I play. Cleaning your strings after each use will help them to last longer, as well as making them easier to play.
