The Eric Clapton signature strat has an onboard active EQ and boost circuit built-in. Turning this boost up for solos thickens the tone and pushes the amp/pedals harder. The tone knob at 50% sounds best with the boost down, but when the boost is up, turning the treble up helps to balance the sound.
