The solo taught in this course is inspired by the frenetic, gospel-tinged renditions of Goin’ Down that Freddie King played live.

Freddie King played as hard as Albert, as soft as B.B., and at times faster than either. His speed and complex bending made his style easy to recognize but difficult to learn.

I’ve collected licks from many of Freddie’s performances that capture the intensity, feeling, power, and flat-out speed of his playing.
