It has been a great ride so far, and I have really enjoyed teaching you what I know about Stevie Ray Vaughan’s guitar playing style, but like all good things, this too must come to an end. However, I think you’ll be glad to know that I’m going to be doing this same thing for Dave Matthew’s style of playing. Not many people know this, but I spent about 5 years touring the West Coast as a one man Dave Mattews cover act when I was 23. I was fresh out of college and Dave Mattews was the most played artist on the radio at that time, and I found myself drawn more and more to his laid back, intricate, and danceable music.
As I got out my acoustic guitar every night, I found myself playing less and less Pride And Joy and more Crash Into Me. It was very cathartic, and it was a period of my life that I value greatly.
So now I’m taking what I learned from that period of my life and I’m going to do my best to teach it to the world, acoustic style. No more amps, or pedals, just me, my bare feet, and my trusty ovation acoustic guitar. I hope you’ll join me for the ride on this happy April Fool’s day.
