There are two common ways to boost an overdrive or distortion pedal: with another overdrive or with a clean boost pedal. Both of those methods work just fine, but a compressor pedal can also be a great boost because of how it adds sustain and increases overal signal level going into the overdrive. In this video I'll use a Wampler Ego Compressor as a boost into a Wampler Tumnus Overdrive, and compare the sound of using a clean boost vs the compressor for the boost.
