Overview
The Pride And Joy style of swinging blues is deceptively tricky. It feels easy to play over. And if you just want to sound decent, it is easy. But if you want to sound great…. that’s a bit harder. You’ll need fantastic timing, the ability to play both ends of the fretboard, and, most importantly, the ability to incorporate chords into your soloing.
The Sweet Little Thang lessons go way outside the boundaries of the Pride And Joy studio recording. To capture the sound of Stevie playing on this track, I dug through my library of bootlegs, listening to as many live recordings as possible. In those recordings, I discovered some common themes he used in this song - things that push past what’s heard on the album. The solos you’ll learn in these lessons are based on those themes.
