Submissions Closed

Thanks to everyone who submitted videos. I'll be editing the video today (Wednesday) and hope to have it published to YouTube, FB, and here on TXBA by Thanksgiving morning (Thursday).

1. Prepare/Practice

There's a list of performances, free lessons and courses listed at the bottom of this page that you can use for inspiration before recording your video.

2. Download The Backing Track

Download this backing track.

Download MP3 (or play along on this page )

3. Tune To E-Flat

Tune your guitar down 1/2 step so you'll be in tune with the track. Please do your best to be in tune before recording.

4. Wear Headphones

Do not have the music playing audibly in the background, listen to it in headphones while you record ONLY your guitar.

5. Count In 4 Beats, Nail The First Note

If you don't do this exactly, I will not use your submission.

It is very important that I be able to sync up your playing to the track, so as the track begins playing.

  • There are 8 count-in clicks/taps before the music starts.
  • Count the first 4 in your head.
  • Count the last 4 by raking your muted strings.
  • Hit the low E string on the first beat of the music.

6. Record Your Video

How your record isn't that important. You can record it with your phone, webcam, etc... I will add in the music while editing, so all I want to hear is your guitar. DO NOT FORGET TO COUNT-IN AS DESCRIBED IN STEP 3.

7. Upload Your Video To YouTube

  • Upload your video to YouTube
  • Leave it public, or mark it as unlisted, but do not mark it as "Private" or I won't be able to access it.

8. Submit Your Video

Submit your video link using the form on this page (above).
