The Wind Cries Mary Song Guide

Overview

You hear Jimi’s signature sound right from the opening chords of this song. Although it isn’t among his most technically difficult performances, it is challenging for different reasons. There’s a certain feel to the rhythm and soloing that requires more polish than power.

That’s what this course is all about. I’ll show you how to capture that feel. You’ll take a tour of the song’s structure and progressions, learn plenty of chord options, and I’ll also teach you the three critical soloing elements he used in The Wind Cries Mary.

FAQ

Will I Learn This Song Note-For-Note?

No. A Song Guide course doesn't teach you a song note-for-note. The goal of a course like this is to help you understand why the song sounds the way it does. I do teach you plenty of chording options, and some key elements from the solo, but you will not learn the entire song in this course.

Do I get tablature with this course?

You will get tablature for all 19 chording examples in Lesson 3. The things I show in Lesson 4 do not require tablature.

How Difficult Is This Course?

This course is appropriate for Intermediate level players. The chording is too difficult for beginners, but too simple for advanced players.
