I don’t use a floating tremolo because it’s hard to tune and screws with wide bends. But I do like to use the whammy bar from time to time. This creates a problem. To keep the trem from floating, you have to tighten the springs. By the time the plate is touching the body, the springs are so tight the whammy bar is very hard to engage.
