How To Download And Unzip Course Zip Files

What's In A Course?

When you buy a course from TXBA, you're getting a bunch of different things. Each course has some of the following items:

  • Lesson Videos
  • Demonstration Videos
  • Backing Track MP3s
  • Demonstration MP3s
  • GuitarPro Tablature Files
  • PDF Tablature Files

If you had to download each of these items individually, it would be hard to keep track of everything, AND it would be challenging to know for sure that you've got everything that you're supposed to have.

Zip Files

That's why each of our courses is delivered in a Zip file. A Zip file is a "container" that holds other folders and files. So for each course you buy, you only need to download one zip file for each course and you'll have everything that comes with the course.

There's only one problem: you need to get the course files out of the zip file before you can use them. Fortunately, this is pretty easy and does not require any special software on most computers. Below are instructions for downloading and unzipping courses for Mac and Windows computers.

Downloading A Course

When you purchase a course, you will see the download links at the bottom of your order receipt, but you can always see a list of all your courses on your My Courses page. This guide assumes that you're looking at that page.

  1. Visit your My Courses page and view the list of courses you have purchased.
  2. Identify the course you wish to download and click the "Download" button to the right.
  3. Click on the Zip link labeled as Complete Course.
  4. If your browser asks you to pick a place to save the file, choose a familiar folder that you'll remember (such as your Downloads) folder.
  5. Wait for the course to finish downloading. This may take as little as 10 minutes, or several hours if you're on a slow connection.
  6. When the file has completed downloading, continue to the next step.

Unzipping On Windows 10, Windows 8, Or Windows 7

  1. Locate the zip file (most likely in your Downloads folder unless you saved it somewhere else).
  2. Right Click on the zip file and choose "Extract All".
  3. A window will open asking you you wish to extract the course files to. By default, it will extract them to the same folder the zip file is located in.
  4. Click the "Extract" Button.
  5. Once you have verified that the course files have been extracted to that folder, you may delete the zip file to save space.

Unzipping on Mac OSX

  1. Locate the zip file (most likely in your Downloads folder unless you saved it somewhere else).
  2. Double click on the zip file.
  3. The files will be extracted to a folder with a similar name to the zip file, in the same folder where the zip file is.
  4. Once you have verified that the course files have been extracted to that folder, you may delete the zip file to save space.
